What better way to welcome in the New Year than a dip in the icy cold waters at Saundersfoot. the 31st annual Saundersfoot New Year's Day Swim attracted 1521 fancy-dressed swimmers and a crowd of 8000 who flocked to the village to join the festivities.

X-Factor finalist and proud Saundersfoot-boy Jay James (pictured left with swim mascot Charlie Shivers) was on hand to start the swim for the second year in a row. There was also a mascot race, made up of well-known local mascots, prior to the main event with Danny Dog of Heatherton Country Sports Park lifting the prestigious Superfast Cymru Trophy! Also, Sharon Lloyd was on hand to ensure the swimmers were warmed up during the rendition of ‘Rockin All Over The World’. Not forgetting Benny Bond who provided the commentary for the whole event

Pictured above are Chris Williams and John Joseph, the only two swimmers to have taken part in all 31 Saundersfoot New Year swims. Well done boys !

The swimmers were sent on their way to the waves with a firework launch, courtesy of Westcoast Fireworks.
